Hi, I'm Cherith — founder of Skindiy.

Thank you for stopping by. I'd love to share how Skindiy came to be.

It all started with a $300 face cream...

Like many people, I'd never really questioned what was in my skincare. I simply assumed that because it was expensive and beautifully packaged, it must contain exceptional ingredients.

When I finally turned the jar over and started researching the ingredient list, I was surprised by what I found.

The cream contained water as its main ingredient, along with a long list of preservatives, emulsifiers, synthetic fragrance and petroleum-derived ingredients. While many of these ingredients are approved for use in cosmetics and are considered safe within regulated limits, I found myself wondering...

Was there a simpler—and more importantly, a more natural—alternative?

That one question completely changed the way I looked at skincare. I wasn't trying to reinvent skincare—I was simply looking for products with fewer ingredients that I could recognise and understand.

Learning to make my own

Around the same time, Australia went into lockdown.

I've always loved reading ingredient labels and cooking from scratch. With a little extra time on my hands, I found myself making more and more things at home.

Then I thought...

"Why not learn to make my own skincare too?"

I began researching traditional balms, botanical oils and natural ingredients. I experimented in my kitchen, tested different formulations and slowly created a balm that I genuinely loved using.

My skin had never felt so nourished.

I made extra for family and friends, and before long they were asking for more.

That's when I realised this little hobby might become something much bigger.

More than just skincare

At the time I was working as a freelance Production Designer, but I couldn't stop thinking about the idea.

I wanted more people to experience how simple and empowering it could be to understand the ingredients they put on their skin.

I also wanted to create beautiful DIY kits that would teach people a new skill, make thoughtful gifts and encourage ingredient transparency.

That's how the original idea for Skindiy was born.

Building Skindiy from the ground up

From the very beginning, I wanted every decision to reflect the values behind the brand.

I carefully sourced organic, cold-pressed oils along with beautiful natural ingredients such as grass-fed tallow and locally sourced beeswax.

I chose glass because it helps protect delicate botanical oils from light, but also because I personally prefer it over plastic and aluminium. I simply feel more comfortable storing natural skincare in glass, and I love that it can be reused and recycled again and again.

Finding sustainable packaging became another passion. I searched for recyclable and compostable options, designed my own labels and dusted off skills from my very first career as a graphic designer to create the branding.

The business was originally called Skinb—my "Plan B" career, and a little nod to beeswax, one of my favourite ingredients.

When it came time to register a trademark, I realised I needed a name I could truly make my own.

That's when Skindiy was born.

The name reflects what I hope this brand inspires: caring for your own skin by understanding ingredients, making informed choices and, if you're feeling adventurous, perhaps even making your own skincare one day.

Meeting our customers

Once everything was ready, I nervously packed up my products and headed to my very first farmers market.

I still remember wondering whether anyone would even stop at my stall.

Thankfully they did.

I met wonderful people who were genuinely interested in the products and asked thoughtful questions about ingredients, sustainability and skincare.

Some of those very first customers still use my products today.

I continue to love attending farmers markets around the Mid North Coast of New South Wales whenever I can. They're one of my favourite parts of running Skindiy because I get to meet customers face-to-face and hear honest feedback that helps shape every product I create.
